Surprise, surprise - they're holding the same event at the Canadian online Apple store too! I've got an iPod to buy for a certain someone, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will go on sale too!

If not, there's always BestBuy.ca who have now matched their prices on a number of things, including iPods, to the prices in their US stores, making them anywhere from $20 to $40 cheaper on iPods than the Apple store. smile.gif

A local supermarket (Pathmark) is selling the Nano's for $129 if you get there by 7 AM on Friday. Not too shabby.

Let's see, should I go to The Store that's in an enclosed mall, or on the new "town square" center?? Thinking.gif

Motley Fool had this yesterday about Best Buy's Black Friday . . .Line-up starts at 3a! Apple "stuff" included, apparently

Best Buy has never been "my cup of tea", but a sale is a sale! cool.gif

My niece and nephew got up at 2:30 AM to go to the closest Best Buy. They waited in freezing cold til the store opened but they got some good deals and came away with lots of goodies. (Nothing from Apple though sad.gif) Didn't mention any doughnuts.... smile.gif

I did take advantage of the online offers at apple.ca - a few dollars off the iPod for my son for Christmas and free engraving. It was more or less the same price as Costco, but Costco doesn't offer engraving. smile.gif

Here's an interesting take on Black Friday @ The NYC Apple Store (from the perspective our country newspaper, on the edge of Silicon Valley) . . .

If they can make a profit by discounting items for one day, why not cut all the prices to increase sales volume throughout the year? Retailers have us conditioned to only buy things that are on sale. Often, I think they inflate the "regular price" to make the "sale price" look like more of a bargain. But, I've never shopped after the sale to find out.
