WHOA...hadn't run into that (yet) but Rogers needs to be smacked around!! Rogers, like Comcast and other cable companies in the US, enjoys a virtual monopoly in its territory - for some (including us) they are just about the only game in town. If you cannot get DSL like we can't, you've got a choice of Rogers or Rogers. Clearly, someone has gotten a little too big for his boots. Bandwidth limits, traffic shaping and now this...Ted and his boys clearly have no interest in anything other than the almighty dollar. Of course, they're far from alone - reading the BoingBoing blog replies makes me glad I don't live in Australia or South Africa for instance. (I now know why my SA cousins ask that we not send photos via email!)
Here's hoping that this is a wake-up call to Canadians about the issue of net neutrality, because most of the them seem pretty oblivious as it's gotten neither the political attention nor the press it has received south of the border.
Of course, all the howling in the world from
customers may do nothing...but when the big boys at Google aren't too happy with you, maybe
then you listen???
