I adore the ocean banner
« on: January 21, 2008, 01:46:00 PM »
Okay, so it's totally inspired by my love for the artist (and the fact that I was there that day to watch the ocean doing it's thing in grand style) ... but I love it. wub.gif

The odd thing is, I still had the fishy until I opened the banner in a separate window and refreshed several times. Makes me wonder how often I miss banners.  unsure.gif

Oh yeah, and why did my ethernet cable go south during the night?

Banner went up early Mon morning. Been leaving them up for about 6 days at a time, occasionally 7. It usually takes one or two refreshes to lose the one in cache. I take no responsibility for your Ethernet. smile.gif

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

You can speed up or even eliminate 'stuck' images and text by setting the cache level to 0 (zero) in FF (and any other browser that has that kind of preferences). That assumes you have a fast connection, not dialup.

Has the Ethernet cable had any stress put on it lately? Thinking.gif Have you used it to hang wet clothes? Pulled any vehicles out of a ditch? Attach the anchor to Sneakers fishing boat? That's the way most Ethernet cables go bad, in my research. However, those little tiny wire fingers can also get "bent out of shape," just like some people I know! It's usually less stressful on you to simply get a new one. And maybe a spare, that should insure that you'll never have trouble with the new one. wallbash.gif

No stress that I'm aware of. Too cold for Sneakers to have used it to go fishing - boat or not. tongue.gif

However -- I just realized that I've been moving the iMac this past week as I plug the firewire cable in and out in order to run my old G4. I guess it's possible that I "pulled" on my original cable without realize it.  dntknw.gif I supposed I could have damaged the ethernet port on my iMac doing all this. sad.gif  I was careful as I turned things and I don't remember any resistance.

I swapped out the ethernet cable yesterday. Today I had to use a different one (although this one is slightly used), and I wound up plugging into the router in Sneakers room. So I'm running on an ethernet cable that snakes from one room to another - around doors and desks and chairs. Tomorrow we will go buy 2 new ethernet cables and try again. We're also going to have our friend come check the ethernet outlet in my room.
