« on: January 24, 2008, 11:16:23 PM »
What the *!@&$*???

It's a *%&#*! rip-off!

Upgrading to Leopard is starting to get very costly...!  I may forgo upgrading DiskWarrior because I haven't needed it in years.

Mayo, thats not correct! I just received my new CD containing DW 4.1 that I needed to repair OS 10.4.10 on my 17" MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz) (see my previous thread on this matter). Ordered it over the phone last Friday and received it today. Paid $20 for it. Further, Alsoft said they would have a free download for the 4.1 upgrade. I chose the $20 disk as I like to be able to boot up from the disk itself

Mayo, it's easy to see why you thought that - on the home page of the Alsoft site there's a big button that says "Upgrade - $49.99" which doesn't explain that the price applies to those upgrading from DiskWarrior 3, not 4. For those upgrading from 4:

QUOTE
Owners of DiskWarrior 4 version 4.0 will soon be able to download a free CD updater. When available, this free updater will allow you to create a new startup CD containing the updated DiskWarrior application. Please note that the new startup CD will start up the same set of Macs as your current DiskWarrior CD. Your new CD will not start up any Mac that your current DiskWarrior CD can not.

Thanks for the info guys/gals... I looked all over the Alsoft Web site and I could not find anything other than the $50 upgrade offer...

Alsoft needs to clarify things IMO.
