Connect an Airprt Extreme Base station to another router??
« on: March 27, 2008, 05:52:55 PM »
I recently switched to a Fiber Optic Optical system as an Internet source. Verizon furnished a wireless router with 4 ethernet ports that works extremely well. I also have a Airport Extreme n router.

The question is: if I buy Time Machine do I have to hook it up to an Airport ethernet port for it to work OR can I attach the the LAN input on the Airport to an ethernet port on the Vderizon router. That is can I daisy-chain the routers?

Thanks,

MM;

This may or may not apply to your 'daisy-chain' concept...  BUT when I had a router between my cable modem and my AirPort, I got a significant reduction in speed off the Airport   ~30%.

Pretty easy to check out with the 'speed check' sites around the web.

YMMV!!
