NameJet Backorder Service...
« on: March 31, 2008, 01:22:23 PM »
NameJet appears to be a domain name auction/resale service affiliated with Network Solutions.  I am interested in a domain name that appears to be available and I can bid for it via a "backorder."

Does anyone have experience with this process and how it actually works?

No experience with it, no, but this is interesting:

Discussion of Namejet and their un-eBay-like bidding procedures:

Good basic info here:

They don't mention Namejet because the article was written last April - Namejet came into existence in October.

Paddy, I had a feeling that you would know something about this...

After reading about NameJet I went to SnapNames and the same domain is available there for a minimum bid that is $10 less than at NameJet.

One problem I have found is that I cannot tell when the auction actually ends... I think that I will contact SnapNames customer service; they actually have a toll-free number!

I thought they list the auctions by ending date...far right column where it says "Backorder by"? (that's if you hit the "see all" on the list - you'd then need to narrow it down by using their filter.)

When I do a search on the home page the next page that comes up doesn't show anything like what you describe...

Are you running Leopard?  We can do an iChat session with screen sharing so we can see what the other person sees.
