Probably just 'stuck' not dead. The different sweep rates may also help. Could it even be the exact same memory bit in both those PC's?

I seem to remember a program made specifically to slap these stuck pixels "up side the head." I think that's called 'percussive maintenance!'
Seems to have worked on old model TVs... Anyway, the program would cycle through the three colors as fast as possible hoping to exercise the stuck pixel enough to get its attention and work properly. Probably was in OS 9!
