yep, that's probably a Pileated Woodpecker.
We have a mating couple that's around here... they have a huge range from their nest. Last year, we had a baby Pileated Woodpecker in our yard several times, it was just hilarious to watch it learn how to bore into things... and also learn it's call. When those birds start to bore into a tree it sounds like a cannon! Much louder than the Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers that we also have. FYI, Roy, the Pileated is typically as big as a crow!
Still over 2 feet of snow in the yard, 5-7" incoming today, I don't care, I'm not plowing!!!
