I have a g5 and run 10.3.9. I want to move my camino bookmarks to opera, but opera doesn't off an import option for camino. Help

What import options does Opera offer?

Would one of those accept an export from Camino??

Do you have the latest version of Opera? They claim, on their web site that:

dntknw.gif Or maybe it just doesn't list Camino? In that case, it should at least offer a generic format (text, comma/tab/etc. delimited file, etc.). Then check Camino and see if it can export in one of those formats. I highly recommend not using any browsers bookmarking system, for exactly the reason you are complaining about. Find a separate, third-party bookmarking program that can integrate with any browser you want to use. Then, there is never ever any need to export/import/format/etc. your bookmarks. And they will always be available in whatever browser you use, even if there are several on your drive at once. :-) Bookmarks are too important and personal to be left to any browsers method of storage! You don't have to buy GM gas when you use a Chevrolet and Ford gas when you use a Mercury, why be forced to use any browsers bookmarking option when you may want to use them on a different browser?

And, although I don't use it for bookmarks, < 1Password>is also a way to store bookmarks. Looks like Agile IS the developer of AllBookmarks. If so, you should seriously consider that one. smile.gif

In Camino you can go to File/Export Bookmarks. In the window that comes up the default choice is to export as an html file. But the drop down allows you to export as Safari plist.  Save to the desktop.

Then you can go to Opera/File/Import/Import Safari bookmarks.

If you can't find a way to do the import/export, there's a simple alternative.

Locate the Camino bookmark.html file. Then open Opera & then under File>Open File, open the Camino bookmark.html file. After it opens, select Bookmark This Page. Now you can use the Camino bookmarks in Opera.

Bookit is an app that has worked great for me in migrating bookmarks over to any browser.

URLManager Pro places bookmarks in a central folder that can be accessed by any browser which can be very handy...

I don't know if things have changed but in the Old Days browsers did not handle large numbers of bookmarks very well. When I was using Netscape (or was it Internet Explorer?) once you hit the magic 200 mark it became impossible to arrange bookmarks alphabetically; that is when I got URLM Pro.

I just checked my current bookmark count: 5,005.

I'm guessing the OS X build of Opera is nearly the same as the Linux build, so.....

1. Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks
2. File > Import and Export > Import Netscape/Firefox bookmarks
3. Point to the directory with your camino bookmarks.html file (probably ~/.camino/default/profile_name/bookmarks.html....or some path to that effect - you can search for bookmarks.html and probably find the path easier).
4. Click open.

Voila.
