Amazing things 'hide' in those things...

1. Buy/Download software
2. Install software
3. Run software
4. Search each and every menu
5. Look at what prefs are available
6. Try doing something with software
7. Decide if you wasted bytes/time/money on this thing! laugh.gif

I dunno, Jim - I don't find that unchecking "fill background" much of an improvement! Still insists on covering a whole lot of screen real estate - and the RIGHT HAND SIDE of my screen is generally the part of the desktop I'm most likely to want to see, since that's where my icons are. As for seeing other apps - I would like to be able to have two things side by side - having them framed and half under the PSE window isn't what I'm after. Part of the reason I bought a 24" widescreen monitor is to be able to do that. Grrr...Adobe, give me back my resizable application window PLEASE! rant.gif

I agree, that's where Mac 'stuff' is supposed to be, obviously not used during 'testing' at Adobe. However, simply clicking the desktop or anything other than Elements work, will clear the Elements 'frame' intirely. No need to 'hide' it. But the very fact that they take away control of the window from the user is simply anti-Mac, IMHO. THere are some good improvements in 6, even the fact that it starts up about 10 times faster that 4, is almost worth the upgrade price! clap.gif smile.gif Still...

I'm off to move/delete/hide/trash the prefs for 6 and see if even a re-install will help. wallbash.gif

IVe got 6 pretty much the way I like it now, thanks to you here.
Though I really dont like the dark gray instead of the white.
I see there is a way to change that color to really light with the new version 7 for Windows.
Perhaps Adobe will put this option into the Mac version when it becomes available.
Hope so,
Jane

Must be my day to be the Cynic of the Year...

I don't think Adobe cares a whit about PSE for Mac. It's purely a port, at best, of the Windows version and can't possibly have any quality testing done on a Mac. Adobe continues to program like many other Windows early developers, by building everything themselves, instead of using an OS's built-in API's. Sure, this reduces the number of API's they need to learn but it requires even more knowledge of how the cpu and its other hardware works. Or, maybe they just have a nice 'API convertor' that they never actually test! Either way, they don't want to put any more time/support into Elements for Mac, just no net ROI. sad.gif
