Wrong resolution after 10.2.6 combined update

If I didn't want folx in my business I'd not have posted.  Reverting sounds perfectly fine to me!  There was nothing wonderful about this update @ all.  And I don't know what made me go on and do it, at 90 MB or some such - I think it was just late and my defenses were down.  The trouble is, I'm clueles on how to revert.  And yup, I did search all messages here!

Oh! I meant to say that despite video settings are no longer stored in PRAM for Mac OS X, I can most certainly confirm that zapping the PRAM _DID_ change how my display looked!  Namely from the vertical stretched condition to the wide margin on all sides condition.  Or wait, am I delusional and did I never restart WITHOUT zapping PRAM.  *brain jiggles*

Basically you either erase and reinstall or archive and install. Probably the latter is what you will choose. This page will get you started on the process and any pitfalls you may encounter.

HERE, you can read up on what is in each incremental upgrade and what you will miss by reverting to the earlier version.

Good luck.  smile.gif

I will be looking into reverting, I think - as now guess what?  I can't start Classic (OS9) when I'm in the desired resolution.  It started fine up until today when I had a crash where your screen normally goes grey, in a wash from top to bottom, and you get the message in many languages that you need to reboot your computer.  After this, when I do the monitor cable switch trick to adjust the resolution as desired - Classic looks like it's all done starting and then disappears and is not running.  If I don't switch the resolution, and accept the awful one the system picks upon rebooting, Classic starts just fine.

Plus, I am having problems with my keyboard, my DSL connection is batty, and my phones didn't have a dialtone.  I will soon be back to feather pens and parchment and forget all of this silly electronic business smile.gif

DEEP SIGH  clap.gif

I've successfully reverted to 10.2.2(a I think it is) and now my resolution is fine, my Classic Environment is fine... and I'm going to bed.  I am so appreciative for all the help.

As for when Apple has a fix for this, I sort of don't think they'll be promoting it when they do!

Glad you got things back to normal. smile.gif

Hard to believe that a mac would have trouble with a Dell LCD. wink.gif
