OT: Earth picture taken from Mars
« on: May 23, 2003, 10:48:47 AM »
This picture was taken by the Mars Global Surveyor camera on May 8th. This site shows and describes the techniques used.

Malin Space Science Systems

Edit in response to Gary:

I had a bit of trouble at first, the link from the news stories was broken. I found the picture by going to the root of the site: http://www.msss.com/ and taking their links. I pasted the first link above from the actual page so I had hoped it would work for everyone. It's worth the effort to go the long way though. smile.gif

(me thinks their site is experiencing technical difficulties)

Went to the site, followed the links -- was able to pull down the "Picture of the Day" of Mars' ridges and sand dunes.  Jeez, it looks creepy!!  It looks like a close-up of psoriasis.  But very, very cool!

Hey Kelly, yes, your first link is a good representation of the other site. But, there are more charts and details at the MSSS site if you can ever get there. Maybe things will settle down in a day or so, after the new has worn off..smile.gif

see ya,

Yes Diana. I went to the other site too. smile.gif

There's a link to it at the bottom of the page.

Thought people could at least see something. smile.gif
