Word Perfect
« on: May 21, 2003, 07:03:44 AM »
Hi!  smile.gif

I am about to start designing/redrawing a logo for a client of mine however, she sent me WPD files which has the original graphic in them.  That is where the original graphic was designed.  I assume WPD is Word Perfect, right?  Has anyone used that program before?  What can I tell her to save it as so that I can open it?  Word or AppleWorks didn't work when I tried to open it this morning.

Actually, she said it was originally designed partly in WordPerfect and partly in another graphics program, however she said it wasn't one of the major ones...  Probably MS Paint or soemthing, lol!  rolleyes.gif

Thanks!
Jay

Jay:

I've used WordPerfect for the Mac for at least 15 years. Actually, its abandoment by Corel was one of the reasons I waited so long to move to OSX - it sorta, kinda works in Classic, but not every old WdfPfct file will open except through the app.

It has a more than rudimentary graphics "side" but I would be surprised if those somewhat limited tools could produce a logo of much complexity.

When I've posted WdPfsct queries, few if any answers eventuate, much to my disappointment.

I always thought it was the King of Word Processors . . . so much more intuitive than Word in the early days of the Mac, yet so powerful.

Sorry I can't be of much assistance.  verysad.gif

Ask that it be saved as a MSWord file. It it was created on WordPerfect on the PC, or Mac it can do that.

Thanks smile.gif

Harv ended up emailing me and helped me with the files.  He converted them for me. THANKS HARV!
The only problem I am having now is the WPG file, which is supposed to be the logo, is not looking like it is supposed to.  It opens in Corel Paint, but not all of the logo is there as it is supoosed to look.  There is only part of it, no text.  I asked her to at least try to save it as a JPEG but she says it will not save as a JPEG.  I can not get the fie to open up in any other program but Corel Paint...  Hmmmm  wacko.gif
