A friend of mine is thinking of buying an eMac.
She's a PC users but when I let her play around with OS X a little bit she was so impressed that she instantly wanted a Mac.
Her budget is limited so I recommended the eMac.
The problem is that the entry-level eMac (800 MHz, 40 GB HD, 128 MB RAM,
CD-drive) only has a CD-drive and not a CD/RW drive. The rest of the model is fine for her.
The DVD/CD-RW combo model is unfortunately about 200 Euros more expensive.
Therefore, I was thinking if it was possible to simply replace the original CD-drive by a third-party CD-RW drive. Is the eMac using a standard IDE optical drive? Is it technically possible?
Or is this all nonsense and an external CD-RW drive is the solution (pretty expensive, though)?
Thanks!
