I posted a photo of my 3 guitars here. The unknown is that I started playing drums in 1958. Just a Ludwig snare. I stopped playing drums in the early '90's when our CW band broke up. That was a 16 year run. If you know bands that is a miracle to have a band of any kind run that long. I played percussion in high school in the orchestra. Swan Lake? Yep.
I took up guitar as a junior in high school. A Kenora gut string, from Japan, I suppose. I went in the Navy and did 2 tours of Vietnam between '68 and '72. I took a Gibson Dove with me. The Gulf of Tonkin was a great place to play "The Boxer" and "Kathys Song". Remembrances of our country and freedom from long way away.
I bring this up as I tuned into Comcasts country channel and heard almost a songlist of all the different songs I played drums in for the band. Sonors. Black and chrome. Zildjian cymbals and the Martin D-28 which I learned songs on to bring into the bands list. "Bad Bad Leroy Brown and I Love a Rainy Night. Just was struck by hearing these for the first time in a long while. Thought I would say this here. all my children were born while I was in this band. Blue Grass-Country Western. A treat to hear some of this again. Doc Watson...as a parting thought.
