Well Mayo, it seems that Mr. Moore and I have traveled down the same road, until he went to intel.

I have had both Macspeech and Via Voice for years, moving back and forth from time to time. It is one of the computing areas that has me wanting for a new set of macs.

If i were to guess the ViaVoice offering would be more sophisticated, at lease it has been traditionally. ViaVoice at $124 with a $29 upgrade http://www.nuance.com/viavoice/osx/ seems like a better deal than Dictate at $199 http://www.macspeech.com/product_info.php?products_id=1018 but without a comparative analysis, it's hard to say.

I'd be interested in any advantages Dictate has over ViaVoice and if it is now a superior product that would be a switch. hi.gif

MacSpeech is available at Amazon for around $155 with a headset.  That price makes it a purchase I can more easily contemplate doing...

I agree, but if history is any guide it will be sometime before Macspeech will upgrade to keep up will the Jone's.
For me, since I already have three headsets, two mono/one stereo, the Via Voice upgrade seems like the logical choice.

I would be interested in your experience with Dictate though, so do post using it and let us know how it goes.
