I'm looking for a Parental Control sort of program for lack of what better to call it...  huh.gif

The thing being is that we don't need or want a program that just blocks anything construed as "adult" arbitarily due to perceived contact. We'd rather have something that allows setting of one's own terms and perhaps better yet works mainly on URL's entered by the person as being unacceptable.

All "I've" found so far is:
KidsGoGoGo which by the screenshot looks to me like it might do exactly what we don't need. I've sent them an email asking... since it appears to use a database as to what is considered adult.

Anyone know of something better? Need it to work on several browsers.

Used to have SurfWatch. They turned their backs on us.

Switched to CyberPatrol. Firewalls weren't on their beat. Don't know if it's still around, or if it does X.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

thanx.gif guys... I got an email back from KidsGoGoGo (stupid name!) that claims you can set up yer own database something like the one SB mentions.

It's too bad Gregg sad.gif
If you search say Google on these things... there are millions for PC but not Mac...  upset.gif

Oh... support for OS X is not necessary in this case...

CyberPatrol is, unfortunately, still around.

There's an interesting story about CyberPatrol, much of which you can read at spamfire.org and theregister.co.uk. In a nutshell, CyberPatrol is published by a British company, Surf Patrol Inc, which is run by fundamentalist Christians.

In addition to blocking "adult" sites, CyberPatrol also blocks:

- Sites that publish negative financial information or shareholder reports about Surf patrol Inc.
- Sites that publish material that promotes religions other than Christianity (both the New York Jewish Teen Center and the Holocaust Museum's Web sites have been blocked in the past by CyberPatrol, though public pressure has forced them to be removed from the list of blocked sites).
- Sites that publish reviews of Internet filtering software, if they don't give high ratings for CyberPatrol
- Political campaign sites and sites belonging to Senators or Representatives who oppose laws that require public libraries to use filtering software
- Islamic sites

and so on. Surf Patrol is, in my opinion, an extremely unethical company that wilfully and wantonly abuses the trust that is put in it by the people who use its software.
A whole lot about me: www.xeromag.com/franklin.html

Thanks Tacit... for the heads-up!
That sounds like it's a little too "over the top" for what it's needed for...  wacko.gif

Out of everything so far, the first one I mention sounds about the best... they replied and said that one can make their own database of URL's not wanted and select that instead of taking the default. I think... give that one a try and if 14 days of it is too much... toss it out!

Anyway... we'll see how it goes... SB's recommendation sounds not too bad either but is a little steeper in the price for something I have the feeling might turn out to be temporary in the long run.

 thanx.gif  everyone!
