Hi dolphin.

- I scanned my initials with my Epson CX 4200 Printer/Scanner.
- Using Command-Shift-4 I selected in the scanned picture the area around my initials.
- Opened the selected file with Graphics Converter.
- Enhanced the saturation and saved it as a .jpg.
- I uploaded the .jpg picture to Web Host Boomspeed.com.
- This provided me with a web address of my initials picture. In this case http://www.boomspeed.com/jb99/jb.jpg.
(The jb.jpg at the end of the address is the title of my initials picture.)
- I “signed” my post using Techsurvivors’ Image button on the upper row of the reply page.

For your info, I also signed my emails with the initials picture. But in this case I only have to drag the initials picture to the end of the email. Note that this is not an attachment. I use Eudora as my email client. I don’t know if one can simply drag a picture unto an email with other email client such as Apple’s Mail.

Making a gif would allow it to have a transparent background. That way it would appear to be 'written' on whatever it might be (ink color excepted, of course).

Additionally, Mail allows just about any kind of text/script/graphic in a "Signature." A whole section of its prefs are assigned to do this, but I think Eudora had that, also. I have about 20 'sigs' in my prefs and set Mail to pick one randomly for each email. Back when I was using Eudora, I had more than 50 'sigs' that I kept in a text file. That file was included in MaxMenus menu, I'd just drag my cursor to the appropriate corner, pop open that list and select a 'sig,' that opened that 'sig's' text file ready for copying.

Thanks Xabd.

But I don't see the transparency in the .gif image. Mind you I simply re-saved the .jpg image as a .gif image.

I think you have to erase the white background, and then save as a transparent gif. This is not the best example, I'm in a rush ...

True, or create the file with that characteristic. And you'll also probably have to check some box/button in a save dialog or preview window to make sure that 'transparency" is maintained. Of course, small lines tend to be hard to see on some backgrounds and one with a specific color may be best, perhaps putting the initials in a circle, with a little tweaking to make it look like a real object sitting on the 'paper/message/whatever' and then make the rest of the bounding area transparent. If you'd like to really go 'hog-wild,' make the background look like a piece of sealing wax that has been impressed with your initials! smile.gif The possibilities (for you) are almost limitless! laughhard.gif
