Need recommendation on an adequate free or inexpensive FTP c

I'm back again.

Some of you know that I changed jobs a few months ago, switching from prepress production to bookkeeping for my church. It's been a good move generally, except that some of the necessary software for my new job is Windows only, which means I have had to learn that. As my previous experience in the glamorous world of accounting had been somewhat limited, it's been a learn-as-I-go process, especially with end of the year tax issues, etc., leaving no spare time lately for such luxuries as sleeping and keeping up with certain websites. But now things are settling down a bit after tax statements have gone out and certain other matters are taken care of, and I'm looking forward to catching up here.

But just because I'm stuck working with Windows doesn't mean I'm done working with Macs professionally. Occasionally I'm asked to produce some original type or art for the church bulletin, website or some other occasional print job. For that purpose I have moved one of my old Powermacs into my office, because even a slightly elderly Mac is easier for me to do creative work with than anything I have on my Windows box. And I still have my macs at home, so time permitting I'll still be checking in here.

But even though my present difficulty doesn't involve Macs, I'll bet someone here can assist anyway. Occasionally someone in the church office needs to upload or download files via FTP. I think I'm the only one in the office who knows what FTP is, so that job has been mine. So far I've just been taking the files to and from my home on a floppy and doing the transfers at home on my iMac using Captain FTP or Fetch. But it would certainly be more convenient to just to do the transfers at work from the Windows box. Hooking my office Mac into the church network and using Fetch from there isn't an option. Neither is using a modem and dial-up connection with the office Mac because I don't have an analog phone jack available. can anyone recommend an adequate free or cheap FTP client, something along the lines of Fetch for Windows 98?

Dreambird recommended  The Windows BBS  a long time ago, when I started having Win probs.  You'll have to register to use the search function, but here are a few links.

I've used  WTS_FTP

Hi,

I've long use WS_FTP from Ipswitch, since 1995. It's very easy to set up and use. It is shareware, you can try it for 30 days. There used to be a free version for education/non-profit use so if you can find it on a shareware/download site, that may also be an option. It was often called WS_FTP LE. The price is $40 for the download option..more if you want a CD.

If you get the trial version via download and find you like it, you may want to order the CD for ease of use. Once you decide you like it, you can't just activate the copy you have, you have to download it all over again. So, if you get into the trial for a couple of weeks, order the CD and it should arrive by the time the trial version times out...(in my experience, the trial version will sometimes go 45 days)

I use  Leech FTP.

Works quite nicely and it's free.

I believe WS_FTP LE is still free as the "Lite" version of WS_FTP.

I have it on Win98 and it's served me well, works good and easy to understand...

WS_FTP LE is installed and functions correctly. Thank you all. Of course, Fetch still has way more style.
