MacNN Review Of iAntivirus Software For Mac

ClamXav is now Snow Leopard compatible:

Interesting comment at the end - one guy claims that ClamXav is no match for iAntiVirus, by comparing the number of vulnerabilities/keyloggers/trojans in its definitions.

I still don't run anything all the time - not because I believe that OS X is invulnerable, but simply because there has yet to be a real threat "in the wild". I don't download random files from untrusted sources or get software off torrents etc. I do have ClamXav - and will update it, and may download iAntiVirus, since there is a free version, but don't anticipate running either in the background all the time.

Hmmmm... One of the comments at the "Clam" page is rather negative. I don't have an axe to grind, just saying... And I don't particularly agree with the assessment regarding Intego either.

I installed iAntiVirus and one thing that I like about it is the handy icon in the Finder Menu Bar.

Choosing whether or not to run anti-virus software sure was easier in the pre-OS X days...
