After I updated to 10.5.8, I noticed that if Trash and several hundred items in it, then it took 5-10 minutes to fully empty. Also, I could not close the trash emptying window unless I logged out then in. I couldn't understand it until I realized that the I had selected Secure Empty Trash using
shift+command+delete. Just a small thought in case others had the same problem.
