Works beautifully but in this quiet room the sound from the machine is quite irritating is it possible to lower this "humming" noise in any way?

Got any "Rap" stations you can get on a radio? Radio 13! wink.gif

Earplugs? That might not be conducive to marital happiness, however.

Open a window?

Seriously, if it is possible to physically access the fan blades, you may find some special lint on them. While it is easily removed, it is nearly impossible to filter out. I think it comes in some of your mail...and it gets out when you open the envelope! inspect.gif

George, the only thing I found on the net is a suggestion to keep it away from the wall as that bounces the noise back. Maybe someone else has a better solution.

Actually, keeping soft surfaces nearby, maybe especially the back, would be a good way to absorb the sound waves going that way. Have you ever seen the 'sound proof' boxes that people put around those big, old printers? eek2.gif
Here's 32 square feet of material for ninety nine bucks! <Foam Shapes> But I bet just some heavy, velvet drapes would help. Even if they are only a couple of square feet!

Of course your 'pain' begs the question(s) of how long this has been going on (there's a song in there somewhere smile.gif ) and is it getting worse?
