1st Gen iTouch is not seen by iTunes after 10.5.8 upgrade
« on: October 27, 2009, 02:35:56 PM »
I recently upgraded "her" 12"pb from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 now her "Touch" is not seen by iTunes 9.0.1. The mini (mine????) was upgraded to 10.5.xx a while back and  and iTunes DOES see it. Perused the Apple forum at length and there were all kinds of suggestions,(nothing mentioned specifically about 10.5 problems) about power, cable connections, sequencing, and permissions repair.  I tried them all with no success. Compared the two iTunes settings and they appear to be the same. Did not upgrade to the 3 version on the Touch but since 2.2.1  seeings how it can be seen on of the mini ?????

Started her pb from the 10.4.11 bu and all is swell there.

The farther I go the behinder I get. Groaner.gif

Any ideas???

Did you 'Authorize' her new computer? In order to get new apps, I think you have to be authorized, basically, they need your credit card info. BTW, if you don't plan on using the old laptop, deauthorize it. Apple only allows 5 total computers at one time. If you have been using iTunes since long ago, you may have old Macs that are no longer around but are using up an authorization. Even if not, it's a good idea to de-authorize it just in case some one also manages to get your passwords... dntknw.gif

There are also some prefs in there (Devices?) that may jiggering.

BINGO,  I had found that support site earlier but was fearful that it would take the whole library down.  It did not. Touch is synced and everything is fine  Thanks

Apple has improved iTunes. It can now store your music anywhere you want. So, if the library isn't where it thinks it should be it will ask you where it is or if you want to start a new one. Re-installing a program should never lose its data, libraries, plists, etc. Although I can't vouch for MS products. Of course, you would have already had a back up, right? wink.gif
