All you can watch iTunes for $30 a month?
« on: November 05, 2009, 08:48:56 AM »
At Brand X, a spin-off of the LA Times, Richard Metzger hears about a possible subscription to iTunes:

QUOTE
Interesting murmurs are emanating from Cupertino this week about Apple's alleged plans to offer an all-you-can-watch television buffet for the princely sum of $30 a month. It's about time. The days of the public buying a single song or downloading a single show for $2.99 are waning; they'd prefer to buy digital media the way they buy pens or Twizzlers from Staples, in bulk. With savvy senior citizens figuring out how to illegally download movies and music, it can be said with some confidence that iTunes has served for many as the "training wheels" for illegal Bit Torrent downloads.

If they're talking about television shows I've somehow missed, or are on cable this might be worth it.  Dunno!  dntknw.gif

All you can watch iTunes for $30 a month?

Most posts I've read about this suggest Apple is having a good deal of difficulty getting the networks to sign on. Shades of the recording companies paranoia? Most suggest Disney might be the first one to use this method. Personally, I'd rather not have to use the computer to view TV and I can't think of $30 worth of shows in any one month, anyway. Of course, even if I could gather that many, when would I have time to watch them?! Why would this be better/easier than the DVR method? Would they not include ads? One way or the other, the viewer is paying for the show. dntknw.gif I doubt if they include me in any of their demographics, of course. wink.gif
