To use finder window must click on finder then click on
« on: November 06, 2009, 01:46:33 AM »
When I open certain windows in the finder, say Command-F, the Find window comes up. I then shift to name. In order to access info in the window,  I have to leave the Find window by clicking on the desktop and then click on the Find window to access any item inside.

Is this normal? Maybe in my dotage I have done somewrong!

Does this happen when you log into a different account?

Also, try renaming your user/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and Force Quitting Finder. That plist is HUGE and does have some info about the "SearchViewSettings" that could possibly be corrupt, I have no idea how or why that might affect this problem, but renaming a plist is quick and easy. I don't see any prefs in the System Library.

Maybe just restarting Finder will help. dntknw.gif
