Mac Mini won't read Leopard install DVD
« on: November 06, 2009, 04:55:58 PM »
I have brought home a friends 1.42 GHz Mac Mini.  It has Panther 10.3.9 and I am wanting to upgrade to Leopard.  The computer repeatedly ejects the DVD.  I have been able to get it to exept it and appear on the desktop.  I have clicked and opened the DVD, then choose restart and install. It asks for a password the restarts acting as if it is going to work but ejects before booting from the DVD.

I am thinking the DVD reader is dirty or faulty.

My friends son originally loaded Panther onto this computer, he now tells me his son had this same problem.

Help needed!

First I would try another DVD just to be sure that the rom reader is not rejecting the DVD as a proprietary Leopard DVD.

My Mac Mini 10.5 DVD does not work in my eMac because it was made proprietary by Apple.

It finally worked.  The disk drive must need a cleaning.
