Can't update Office 2008
« on: November 12, 2009, 08:59:24 PM »
Have version 12.2.1 of Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac.  Tried to update to 12.2.3, and the message I get is that there isno software on the volume to update.  I have searched all over the web, but have not come up with a solution. Can anyone help?? Thanks.

Looks like you may need to reinstall Office, unless one of the simpler solutions applies. smile.gif

Guess I need to trash and reinstall!  Nothing else is applicable.  Thanks!

Trashing, at least in my experience with a previous version of Office, isn't enough. Go to /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Additional Tools and look in the Remove Office folder for Remove Office.app. After you have used it to uninstall Office, do a manual search for anything labeled Office, Entourage, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Microsoft, etc. and trash the relevant files. Of course, you should back up any documents that you created before uninstalling Office and you might want to back up ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data also. That folder contains all your emails, addresses, etc. that you use in Entourage.

After all the above has been done, reinstall Office.
