MorphOS - A different operating system for PPC MACs
« on: June 06, 2010, 09:42:15 PM »
I haven't finished downloading it (doing it right now) but I found that a new version of MorphOS, an operating system for PPC MACS, is now available for downloading at this website:

I'm thinking of installing it on a backup Powermac G4 that I have in storage as soon as I can learn of the memory and hard drive requirements.

Unfortunately, it only works on 1.25GHz eMacs and PPC Mac Mini computers.

MorphOS is basically the open-source equivalent to the operating system for the old Commodore Amigas. I used to have an old Amiga and would love to be able to run Amiga programs on my blue and white PPC G4, but Morph OS won't run on it. sad.gif

Isn't it somewhat crazy that it doesn't work on a 1.5GHz Powerbook G4; other than considering a different video card.  I've got an eMAC that it should work on; I'll try it on a different partition later on in the week!  Thanks Tacit!  Hey, I just wondered if you could try spoofing the system identification using Open Firmware?
