iPhone update woes

That about sums up my situation. I haven't tried to restore the music and applications. The email is very weird, with messages showing all by one person. Sometimes it doesnt seem have an inbox. This is on a 36.
Maybe 4.0 was meant for iPhone 4G!

Five pages of official apple woe here:

I see some are saying 4.0 might not be worth it to 3.6 owners because of battery and operating issues.
Seems main problem is unlike other updates, this one wipes the phone and restores it. Some steps of the restore don't go so well. I at least have my photos and i think that's all  i would have missed.
Havent had time to try to figure out how to restore my apps and music and whatever else is missing.

I got brave and installed it last night, it went OK. Battery seems to be lasting longer and I like to be able to add the wallpaper under the icons too.
