Anyone with personal "must see" recommendations?
« on: June 21, 2010, 06:42:22 AM »
Going on a four day road trip this coming weekend to Minneopolis and Lacross, Wisconsin area.  Mainly going to see and spend time with my stepdad and a favorite aunt and uncle.  Anyone have ideas about things to see or do (or eat yum.gif) in these two cities please speak now!  Already have the Riverwalk in Minneopolis and the Norske Nook restaurants (are some better than others?).  Thanks!

So far we had a wild an crazy ride up here. . .thundershowere and huge banks of mammatus scared us out of southern Minnesota and finally torrential rains dumped onto LaCrosse itself.  The crazy Mississippi River Valley looked like a huge flooded lake. . .maybe it always does because I saw this the last time I was up here to visit!  My uncle is going to run us up the river in the morning to see some of it first hand.  Then onto see my stepdad in Minneopolis!

WOW!!!  What a week / end to spend in southern MN......

We've had more watches / warnings / flash flood / wind / hail / lightening storms / than you could shake a well grounded ten foot aluminum pole at...

Hope you got to visit between all this....  Next week is supposed to be GREAT!!!!!  Ain't that always the case.

RNKIII: We had the weather chase us across Southern Minnesota Friday night and didn't get wet until Lacrosse where
we took a bath!  I drove 20mph on an interstate in Onalaska and I was more than a little concerned by the water washing
up on the bridge supports.

It looked like this in Iowa and it turned into mammatocumulus and thunder and lightning by Southern Minnesota!

This is Maiden Rock in the Mississippi River area between Wisconsin and Minnesota; this was a beautiful area and
I plan to go back!

This is Minnehaha Falls; the creek feeds into the Mississippi in the Minnesota/Wisconsin border area!

This one isn't actually the one that got away because we just didn't get around to seeing it:

I think this is the one in Hayward, Wisconsin but the official looking picture didn't have the sunfish in it!  A friend of my aunt and uncle got married up in this thing! The parson said something about learning the fighting spirit of the muskie in the ceremony. I'm not sure that's something I'd wish for! : I'd hope that it goes without saying that I didn't take this picture:  Thanks Obert!
