I view things the same as above, so I've not seen your problem, which is, after all, doing things differently!
I don't understand why people don't do everything as I do and then complain because they have problems. Eye never hav nie pronouns, eivun mye spel chekur works purficklie!!!
Actually, I have noticed, very occasionally, that the data about what I've read is not accurate. I think it is a problem with the forums database. That where that kind of data
should be stored, IMHO. But I was wrong once...
I just remembered that I sometimes have to log in when I access TS from my iPhone. That's usually because the log in from that IP has timed out. Which leads me to believe that the forum software maintains your IP address and the time of your last visit when determining what threads are new. It may also be writing a cookie with your user name/password and checking for that before allowing a non-log in procedure. But I still think it keeps tract of your last visit date in its own database.
DBs do get corrupted, occasionally but simply changing your profile/settings, saving them and then putting things back like you want them should re-write that info, twice, hopefully creating a clean source of info. I really don't see why any particular browser would make any difference.
I seriously
do encourage your use of the 'standard' (approved!) view of the forums; the plain list of topics in each side. The new posts automatically show at the top of the list. It does require a couple of clicks to get from on 'side' to the other, but you also get a chance to see who's on line, each time you switch...and see who might have a B'day...
Just a word to the 'wise.'
