Mac OS ROM file
« on: June 25, 2003, 03:19:41 PM »
What I would like to know is when a OS like 9.2 is updated to OS 9.2.1 and then OS 9.2.2, is the Mac OS ROM file automatically updated, The updates take a different version of the Mac OS ROM file that the version of OS 9.2 which is installed on my computer now plus the Mac OS ROM file on the installation disk that I have I believe is bad.

Don't know if krissel already gave you this. smile.gif

Mac OS: Computer Stops Responding Because of Wrong ROM File Update

You need the correct Install disks for your machine.

If you have a defective correct Install CD Apple might replace it.

Or buy another one. smile.gif

I have the updates for this OS, and the updates require a different version of the Mac OS ROM file. Is the version of Mac OS ROM file automatically updated when a person runs an update?

"Certain combinations of Apple installers can cause the Mac OS ROM file to be downgraded to an earlier version. Since specific Mac OS ROM versions are meant for specific releases of Mac OS, mismatching these components can cause unpredictable behavior. Depending on the Mac OS version and the ROM version which are mismatched, symptoms can vary from an unnoticeable difference in operation to the computer not responding during the startup process."

I don't think 9.2.x Updates are your problem.

I think the initial Install Disk is. smile.gif
