Remembering Benoit Mandelbrot!

Benoit Mandelbrot, father of fractal geometry and a man of many parts, died today at age 85!  I have spent a great number of hours (days) trying to better understand fractals and what you can do with them and I know I am only one of his many mourners!  This is a great memoir of meeting Benoit Mandelbrot by author Rudy Rucker:

It's amazing to think of all the things that can be approached through fractal geometry; a lot was going on in his mind!  I guess his influence will be ongoing like that of Buckminster Fuller and all of the other thinkers that exist now only in our minds and the works they left behind!
