"The Atlantic" predicts Apple prices rising!
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:42:23 AM »
I would predict this being true: that raising the wages for Foxconn employee's in China will cause the price of Apple hardware products to rise.  Probably Lenovo and other computer companies will also be raising prices!  I'm not sure the economy is up for this!

I'll bet manufacturers, including Apple, will hold down costs due to the fragile economy.  Apple is one of many who use Foxconn for parts, the other companies will also be affected. I also doubt the increase in wages will add all that much to the final product.  It will just mean the next version of a product won't be reduced as much in price, or not at all.

Look at it from the other's perspective, now those workers may be able to afford something they make themselves.  Well, maybe someday. rolleyes.gif

The other possibilities are that the quality will go down or things will stay the same. This has happened within product runs on Lenovo computers in our office.  The model will be the same but the engineering changes make the thing less reliable.  Staying the same usually only holds true for the length of the product run (contracts with customers) and then the new and improved might now cost 1.57% more!   Devilish2.gif
