A Standard Serial Port for iPhones/iPads?
« on: October 31, 2010, 11:07:08 AM »
There is in interesting picture here of an iPhone hooked directly to a CISCO switch via a serial adapter that someone built:

I notice it's in the Australian version of Computerworld so maybe there is a need for this down under?

Note: I talked to a guy on our Networking team who is "very" interested in this for programming the switches from his iPhone!  I guess it's more useful than I'd thought at first.  I'd be surprised if there isn't a commercial device to do this!

Apparently according to "someone" the presence of the serial port is supposed to be secret according to the update the shows it being used on an iPAD.  dntknw.gif
