Or maybe they're actually waiting for this:
http://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/04/light-...e-at-forefront/http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Enterprise-Networ...Reports-431251/ The strong backing from Apple leads one to believe that it may well be the next connection option Apple adopts - skipping USB 3.0 entirely. Of course, if USB 3.0 starts gaining significant traction, Apple may have to swap USB 2.0 for USB 3.0 whether it likes it or not.
Somehow I'd managed to miss the news on Light Peak - but wow. It blows everything else out of the water - USB 3.0, FW3200...
Wonder how much it will cost - a key factor in its adoption? (the main reason FW was never adopted on a wide scale was the cost, AFAIK)
Jim, why would USB 3.0 not fit in mobile devices? If they have USB 2.0 now, and USB 3.0 is backwards compatible (which it is) then I don't see an issue. Judging by the cards I've seen, it's no more of a space hog than USB 2.0. And it is showing up in PC laptops...
I do wish that Apple would add native support for eSATA and add those ports to their Macs. It's fast, it works and it's not expensive. And it smokes USB 3.0 and FW800.
