Stopped at Staples this afternoon, and I was just wandering around and found myself looking at this:


Logitech M505

The price was decent (and an in store reduction with my Staple's card) ... and so now I have a shiny new wireless mouse. It's a tad more sensitive then the apple mouse (even with adjusting it), but boy is it nice; and no more stuck scroll button. smile.gif

Really cool, and it's a hoot to pick it up and use it off the desk. LOL!

So, it will also scroll diagonally? Thinking.gif You might want to attach a two foot string to that little USB thingy. It could be slightly difficult to find it after sweeping the house... tease.gif I bet Mac could tie a secure knot on that thing, assuming he has a mountable (third-hand) magnifying glass. rolleyes.gif But, if you like it, great! That's the most important thing! Just be careful for the first 500 miles, that thing looks pretty fast! eek2.gif scram.gif

We own three of them, Kimmer. (my MacPro, my MacBook Pro and older son's MacBook) Very happy with them - nice for those of us who don't have bear paws for hands. The battery life is very good. BTW - if it starts acting wonky, check the "eye" - sometimes a hair or bit of fuzz gets in there. The other time you'll see slightly odd behaviour is when the batteries need replacing, but that can take months. smile.gif

BTW - don't use rechargeable batteries in this mouse. The voltage is too low. They need the full 1.5V, not the 1.2V provided by rechargeables. This is not unusual for wireless mice, and Logitech does state this upfront. Apple is one of the few companies that produces wireless mice that work with rechargeable batteries - though there are a lot of people none too happy with the battery life (rechargeable or alkaline) of their Magic Mice, judging by the threads on the Apple forums and elsewhere.

Paddy, it was remembering your good comments in other threads that tipped the buying scale - so to speak. tongue.gif  Thanks for the reminder on the batteries and the tip on what to watch for when it gets wonky. smile.gif

Jim - this mouse can scroll sideways, upside down and all around. It's most functional, and it's red. laugh.gif

For a nice little Bluetooth one look no further than another Logitech product, the V470. I have two, one for the iMac and one for the Thinkpad.

I really like Logitech mice and wouldn't think of using anything else

No storage spot in this mouse, but it's doubtful I'll take it when we travel - we have a mouse we bought for the laptop.

Sandy, looks like a nice mouse - but twice the price of mine. wink.gif

Today my little red logitech began acting funny and then stopped working. Batteries were low. Popped in 2 fresh ones and I'm back in business. So just a smidgen over 10 mths use on my original batteries. Sweet. Love this mouse.

Much depends on how often you use it.  I've still got the original batteries in my Bluetooth mouse from March of 09.  Of course I don't always use it with my MBP so they last longer.  wink.gif

Do look at the batteries occasionally - I still get the odd one that has leaked, particularly if we don't use the device for a while. Translates as "forgot about it..."  rolleyes.gif

Krissel, I'd had a good charge until just recently. Sneakers got me hooked on this game ... and so I'm using my mouse more than normal ... and poof went the battery. It's all Sneakers fault. biggrin.gif

I acquired the Logitech M705 from Amazon back in November. It claims a battery life of 3 years. I don't expect it to last that long as I'm a pretty heavy user, but it keeps you posted on the remaining battery life and today it indicates 1040 days remaining. It's a little smaller than I prefer but has all the functions I use...It's a keeper.
