WHAT?! You think Google might be tracking our movements/surfing/habits?! Shame, shame!
Don't you know that all businesses are innocent until someone with deeper pockets can catch them in the act? What possible good would it do for Google to know/have/store/sell that kind of info on us?! It seems the "conspiracy" bug has invected another TS member!
I'm not sure there is any way to use the inter
webs without creating value for someone other than myself.
It's only a simple coincidence that the word "web" is synonymous with trapping something...
I'm showing my ignorance (
and my laziness) , I'm sure,
but it would seem that the closer the DNS server is to my computer, the faster the translation would be. And aren't we talking microseconds, anyway? And the conversion is just the first step in accessing the desired site, right? Or, does the DNS server also establish the path to the actual site
and the return path to my computer? Somehow, I doubt that...
I suspect that the speed to any site is different every time the browser is started. Even if the actual site address is maintained in a cache, the actual path is likely different with each new request. So, with the info supplied by e DNS already known, the time saving is even less after the actual address is stored the first time.
