Currently have G4 733 running 9.2.2. Don't touch X!!! Since I decided to gt a new computer and figure G5 is the way to go (considered G4 which boots from 9 and X) I am going to boot from X,install Jaguar, which I still have in a sealed box) and use it for a while so I can make a transition to the new system. My questions are as follows:
1) Are 9 and X currently on separate partitions- were they installed that way - and does it matter?
2) When I want to transfer my files (I can use my external firewire which I use as a clone), how do I transfer only X and not 9, and what about things like preferences and extensions and who knows what else, which may be stored in folders in OS9?
3) If I install Jaguar, will I be screwing things up by transferring everything since I read that Jaguar is configured differently on the new computers?
4) Do I need to know in advance which of my apps need updating for X or will I figure that out when nothing works?
5) If a number of my programs can only be run in classic, will they transfer over easily or is it better to reinstall and update?
And finally - is there a site which lists INCOMPATIBLE perpherals and software for X?
