Ever tried Google Latitude?
« on: August 05, 2011, 03:55:21 PM »
www.google.com/latitude

I'd never heard of it, but our friends are traveling up this way (from Livermore, CA to Waldport in 1 day!) and he set up Google Latitude with his Android phone, and then "invited" me to his Google Latitude page and we've been "watching" them as they drive up the highway. It's really been fun to follow their progress and then report on FB to our mutual friends.

Sneakers and I are going to look into this and maybe set it up for our next trip (if we ever get all the medical bills paid off and have a few bucks for a trip). It would show our family and a few close friends where we were as we traveled.

Anyhow, it's kinda cool.

Nice to have people watching you approach their places of business, also? rolleyes.gif

Well, only if we "approved" them. It's not open to anyone and everyone.

Have to say, after a wonderful visit (that included their car breaking down as they got to the coast and resulted in an extra day to their visit) we have been watching them return home and we know they are safe. I think "Latitude" is pretty cool.

We are home from vacation now, and have about 3 more weeks before school starts.

Thank you for bringing this Google/latitude thing to my attention, I think it would be great for our family!
All of us have been travelling like crazy this last month, and this would be fun to track each other and also its a good thing to know if everybody is moving right along.
One section of our kids and grandkids are sailing in the San Juan Islands this week, and it would be fun to track them with this app.
Waiting for pix to come up on their blog in the meantime.

Summer is way way too darn short!
