OS 10.7 Bug report
« on: September 12, 2011, 03:55:40 PM »
iMac Intel i3 21.5" OS 10.7.1

How does one report a System bug to Apple?

After having installed 10.7 from the App Store, as I reported in a previous post, I had been unable to put
the dock on the RH side of the screen. After many discussions with Apple Care, I had finally brought my
computer to an Apple Store whereupon they had reinstalled 10.7 on the OS 10.7 partition of my Internal Disk.
After reinstallation, the Dock could then be put on the RH side of the screen.

When I got home I reconnected everything to the computer. Lo and behold the Dock could no longer be put
on the RH side of the screen. So I started to disconnect my peripherals one by one. When I removed the
Mini Display connector to my  Mini Display to HDMI adapter connected to my HD TV, the Dock could NOW
be moved to the RH side of the screen.

Why do I say this is a 10.7 System bug? Because this does not occur with 10.6.8. i.e. I can watch my computer
screen on my HD TV via the Mini Display-HDMI adapter AND have the Dock on the RH side.

Can somebody tell me who at Apple I can send this bug and where it would not fall between the cracks?

Thanks.

It's likely that this isn't a bug.

When you have your computer set up for more than one monitor, even if one is a TV, you can arrange the monitors however you like. They act, as far as the computer is concerned, like a single desktop that spans across multiple monitors. If the second monitor is arranged to the right of the main monitor, you can't put the dock on the right side of the screen, because that would be like putting it in the middle of the desktop.

Click System Preferences. Click Displays. To the right of the list of resolutions, sou should see pictures of your monitors. Drag them to arrange them; make sure your HD TV is to the left, not to the right, of the main monitor. Does that help?

Tacit, you "son of a gun" YOU are right AGAIN!

Following your instructions I move my TV screen to the left of my Menu (computer) screen
and sure enough the Dock appeared on the RH side of the screen. By the way i had to uncheck
the Mirror Display box to see both screens side by side. Once I had moved the TV screen,
I rechecked the Mirror Display box.

How come you know more than the Apple Care and Apple Store "geniuses" (genii?)?

Thanks a lot most brilliant and gifted tacit.
