I have three m/c's hooked up to my excellent router which means there are three corresponding lights lit up on the front of the router, the thing is two of them (G4 and PC)are green means ok the m/c's are talking to the router at the speed of 100mbps the third one (G3) is yellow talking at the speed of 10 mbps.
The G3 has an inbuilt ethernet adapter if I install the supplied Netgear 100base-tx fast ethernet pci card will this override the inbuilt adapter? if not how do I disable the default one.

It won't override your existing ethernet connection, but, you will be able to select which one you'd like to use.

After installing the Netgear card and installing the driver for it, it should become available in your control panel/s for use.

Al,
I have been in touch with Netgear and they tell me they do not have drivers for the Mac nor do they support Mac in that "we are not trained in Mac hardware/software". Which road do I now go down?

George. Is this strictly for the Internet?

If so, that 10 Mbs per second is plenty. 10 Mbs = 1.25 MBs per second.

More than adequate for the Internet.

However. The 100 Mbs NIC would make G3 to G4 transfers faster.

If you already have one to put in, fine. Whatever.
