User account and network

I know it is highly recommended that one create a "user' account in addition to the Admin account.  For whatever reason I have never chosen to do that.   The household is expecting guests sometime in the near future, read "teenage guests" so it seems like this would be a great time to address that issue.

The problem is I cannot seem to make it work.

I cannot get on the net. I have tried airport, ethernet cable direct to the router, and ethernet directly to the cable modem. In all three cases the network info tells me it is connected, but it ain't.

What am I overlooking???   The admin account works just lovely.  This is Lion 7.3

Repaired permissions?

Restarted?

Cockpit issues.  After fooling around for the better part of 2 hours I FINALLY got it.

Repaired permissions,    NO JOY

Restarted at least 6 times:   NO JOY

Eliminated the guest account:   NO JOY

Shut off "parental controls":   BINGO

Guessing:   I must have had Parental controls turned on on both the "user" AND guest accounts.  I reckon  if you have no requirement for "parental controls" one tends to overlook the obvious.
