Interestingly, I've got 10.5.8 on my G5 Quad, and it will not install on my machine; must require the Intel chips. . .

Probably. It's just a bunch of scripts, some of which check what hardware and OS it's running on. It's not an actual UI application.

Won't run on my Leopard G4 either though at this point the Flashback Trojan has not infected any PPC Macs.  Whether they stay unaffected is not known.  Just disable your Java in the browsers and you'll be pretty safe.
