Desktop rebuild didn't work for Icon problem
« on: July 08, 2003, 03:03:15 AM »
wacko.gif Bernie, I tried the rebuild and then removed the program completely, even from the system folder before reinstall. did that and rebooted got online the same thing. This has got me buffaloed, what else is there to do? The first thing I did before comming here was to remove the font and put it on a zip disk, then deleted it from the harddrive rebooted, and poof! it was still there.  I even reinstalled again and I guess I got rid of every thing the profile came up but would not read the one with my name, I used the default.

It sounds like the font's Bundle bit is on--it should be off.

You might try this:

1. Delete the font and Netscape.
2. Rebuild the Desktop.
3. Install the font.
4. install Netscape.

If the font's Bundle bit is on, or if the font contains a BNDL or FREF resource 9which no font ever should), then the only way to fix the problem is to install Netscape AFTER you install the font.
A whole lot about me: www.xeromag.com/franklin.html
