Firefox Profile... braindead :(
« on: December 26, 2012, 09:49:22 PM »
I'm just trying to figure out how to export my FF bookmarks so I can put them in Safari. I rarely use Safari on the MBP but I do on my iPad and current bookmarks to sync to it would be handy! wink.gif

I've just plumb forgotten how to do that... ???

Should be an "Export" or similarly named menu, maybe in the File menu? Not that I've ever done it, I never keep bookmarks in any browser. Exactly because of the syncing problems. Bookmarks should be available at all times, not just when you happen to have a browser open.

Here's one option:

1. In Safari, go to Edit>Import Bookmarks...
2. In the resulting window, navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/gfeievgx.default (may have different gobbledygook name) and select bookmarks.html
3. Click Import.

Another option: Follow the directions at this Firefox help page.

If you want to sync your bookmarks rather than just import them you could use Xmarks. It's available as an extension for both Firefox and Safari. It will sync between both browsers. After that iTunes can sync between Safari and your iPad. That's what I do as I prefer Firefox to Safari et al

Not long ago, FF created a Sync option, accessible through their Pref window. A note of caution: don't try it if more than one person uses the devices/computers thus synched. CHAOS.

Agile also has a bookmark app that can sync between devices, I think. Those are the developers of 1Password, so they definitely know how to work with browsers! I'll provide a URL when I get home.

That's it jon! <AllBookMarks Download different versions with this link> and it's free!

I think this is a better download link. I had the same one you put in but it only displayed the apps they sell (1Password for Mac/Windows/iOS/Android and Knox). flail.gif
