While the land-line still 'offers' lots of opportunities to listen to robots, I've not had any on my iPhone, yet. But here are a couple of ways to handle these kinds of calls that would be great if possible on our land-lines! One method requires jail-breaking the phone, not my choice. YMMV. However, the second method can even stop the phone from ringing and can add as many numbers as you want!
I'm assuming that other 'smart phones' would have similar (or better?) capabilities. wink.gif
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

I figured out the "naming" method some time ago when and unwanted caller kept bugging me. I just call it "Do Not Answer". I haven't changed the ringtone but that's not a bad idea. At least I'd know without looking when that call comes in.  rolleyes.gif I like the tip about simply adding any other unfriendly number to the same name.

Another way to block numbers (if your carrier is Verizon), is to go into My Verizon > Call & Message Blocking Manage Family Safeguards & Controls >

You can block calls and messages from up to 5 phone numbers at no charge.

Expiration. Blocks expire after 90 days. Be sure to reapply the block if you wish to continue the service restriction. To permanently block numbers, subscribe to Usage Controls*.

Limitations. You cannot block numbers within your account or non-10 digit numbers such as 911, 411 or #MIN (checks minutes used).
