iCal Event Syncing
« on: July 25, 2013, 10:44:56 AM »
This may have been addressed before but I couldn't find anything in a search.

I use iCloud to keep my computer and iPhone supposedly synced. For the most part, it seems to be working.

Anyway… When I create an iCal event on the iPhone, that event shows up on my computer like it should. When I create an event on the computer, it doesn't get to the iPhone.

I have looked at various discussions on the subject and I have checked my settings over and over to no avail. I'm stumped.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm too frustrated to keep trying to fix it on my own. wallbash.gif

Got a screenshot of the Accounts page of iCals prefs?
What do you have in the "Refresh Calendars: setting?

How about the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" System Pref Panel?
What account (if you have more than iCloud) are you using to do the syncing?
If you are using iCloud, do you have 'Calendars & Reminders" checked?

Here's a picture: iCal Prefs

I have tried different settings to see if one would trigger a share of events. I just left it at "Push" for now.

I use my dotmac account for everything having to do with Apple stuff, including iTunes, Mail, App Store, etc.

Everything is "Checked".

Looks the same as mine (except for that strange email address!). Syncing does seem to take a while; ~10 seconds for a test calendar event I just tested-iMac to iCloud/iPhone. Actually a little quicker with an edit on the iPhone to iMac.

I would think that your addy info is correct on the Mac if you're getting changes from your mobile devices. But it wouldn't hurt to check it, to be sure. I'm assuming you keep all this info in a separate app (like 1Password) so it can be compared with what you think you have in the various other places. We humans tend to 'see' what we want to when there can be actual differences. Having a separate location for passwords/IDs/email addresses/etc. that you know are correct helps when they don't seem to work in a single other place. Good old Copy & Paste to the rescue! wink.gif

Well, I figured out the problem with my computer not sending Calendar Events to my iPhone. whistling.gif

So today, I got a Notification on my iPhone and wasn't generated from Calendar. It came from Google Calendar.
Some time in the past, I guess I created a Calendar linked to Google. I don't recall doing it so maybe it was generated some way without my knowledge. I don't use Google Calendar and that's why I couldn't figure this out sooner. I'm just glad I got the Notification letting me know that I wasn't completely losing my mind. sweatingbullets.gif

I found the setting in the Preferences and changed it to the Home Calendar and the Events immediately showed up on the phone.

End of Story…
