Cell Phone Charging Stations
« on: November 29, 2013, 03:40:58 PM »
Several companies have come out with this idea in different forms. Some charge the user money for the electrical charge. This story claims the service is free. Of course, the charger costs the restaurant, so...

Anyway, it sounds like a great idea to me; recharge your phone/device and stop using it while people are eating with/around you!
Now, if we can just get the airlines to use this same idea, preferably not allowing anyone to get their device until after landing... <U.S. to Consider Cellphone Use on Planes>... <FCC sees backlash after proposing to allow in-flight cellphone calls on planes> (currently a 'voting booth' at this site, vote and look at the 'eye-opening' but un-scientific results)

Why...
So they won't be able to use them during the flight. It's bad enough during a meal. This service helps remove at least some phones at those times. At least in a restaurant there is some space between you and the talker. If you've flown in the past ten years, you may have noticed there is no more space? I'm thinking an investment in any company making comfortable ear plugs might be good. If the Feds allow cel phones during flight, ear plugs will be the only way to avoid idiotic, irrelevant, intrusive and irritating one-sided "conversations!" wallbash.gif

Hate one-sided conversations. The only thing worse is when folks have the volume on their phone so high it becomes a three-way conversation that I'm part of, but not really. I always have this urge to speak up nice and loud and join in.  Devilish2.gif

Yesterday two of the guests at dinner continuously tapped (and we could hear the taps during quiet moments) their phones as they sent texts to friends. Ignored their dad/grandpa, as well as the rest of us. I wanted to take both of their phones away.

Rudeness reigns anymore. sad.gif
