Is Your Iron Spying on You?

The cellphone in aircraft is now virtually moot. I will simply say the standards in the country whose regulations I usually had to abide by we're fine with me, until they were changed based on studies made by several aircraft, radio, instrument and pilot groups. YMMV. Fortunately, aircraft flights are not a democratically controlled event.

I don't remember seeing a request to turn off cell phones in any of my recent hospital visits. Fortunately, they have not been for my own treatment. However, I would expect any entity requesting that they be turned off to be complied with and then the situation discussed with the owners/mangers. But that probably comes from my years of flying where the time to discuss problems was after the problem is resolved and were safely on the ground... And the fire is out! laughhard.gif

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

We have a word for "alternative-medicine" that actually works..........

We call it MEDECINE.....        whistling.gif

However the idea that smart meters can effect health is lunacy akin to the lunacy that suggests celphones can disturb hospital instruments or aicraft avionics......   I thought that tired old canard had long since been shot to death!!!!    rolleyes.gif

Ah hah! I see we have another Tim Minchin fan in the house! biggrin.gif (I almost quoted that line myself…)

For those of you who have no idea what we're talking about, check out Tim Minchin's "Storm" on YouTube. wink.gif

Interestingly, the last time I was in emerg with my Dad (2 weekends ago…) I saw no signs about not using cell phones like you used to see. There are some things they can possibly affect - if you have an ICD for instance, they tell you to use the ear opposite to where it's installed when using a cell phone, and if you keep your cell phone on your belt, to make sure it's at least 6" away. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/implantab...SECTION=results

Both pacemakers and ICDs are now supposed to meet certain standards so they won't be affected, however: http://www.fda.gov/Radiation-EmittingProdu...s/ucm116311.htm

As for cell phones on planes, the rules in the US may soon change: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-57613401...-ban-on-planes/

Quite frankly - do you want to be trapped in a seat next to some person yakking on a cell phone for hours? I don't - I really don't mind if the airlines choose to continue the ban inflight. iPads and e-Readers - no problem (as long as people use headphones for noisy stuff that is).
